How To Help

Adopt. Foster. Volunteer. Donate.

When you adopt from C&C, you become a part of our incredible community and can trust that we will be there to support you along the way.  Prior to becoming available for adoption, each cat and dog is spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped, thoroughly checked by a trusted veterinarian, and medical care provided when needed.  The cat or dog is then placed into one of our loving and experienced foster homes. All of our rescued pets are given as much as they need to adjust.  Many of our cats and kittens are fostered in homes with friendly dogs. If you are a dog parent please ask us about our kitties who have been socialized with dogs.

As a strictly volunteer-based organization, we rely heavily on the generous donations from supporters. We are also in need of supply donations, drivers to help transport animals to and from medical appointments and adoption events, and, arguably most importantly, fosters. Without a doubt, fosters and funds have the most impact on the number of animals we are able to help.

Foster Program

Unsure of whether dog or cat ownership is right for you, or want to help but can’t make a long-term commitment?

Consider fostering a pet. Every new foster home we have is an animal saved from death row. We can work with you on your specific needs – prefer a small or hypoallergenic dog? A cat that is comfortable being alone during long work days?

Up for the challenge of rehabilitating an abused or neglected animal? Just let us know – for every foster home, there is an animal in a shelter, waiting desperately to be saved.

WE NEED YOU!

Volunteering is a noble way to give back to our companion animal community. In fact, this is how Cats & Canines, Inc. came into being. Saving a life is only the beginning.

Experienced fosters are needed!

Fostering an orphaned animal is the gateway toward their becoming successfully adopted. Do you have a quiet guest room, or quiet office which can be used as a "safe room"? Since Cats & Canines, Inc. prefers "In-Home" foster care, we are looking for a few experienced cat & dog fosters in the Pasadena, Altadena, Monrovia, Flintridge/ La Crescenta/ Glendale/ Burbank/ Toluca Lake, Studio City ,San Bernardino/ Ontario areas. Our geographic foster areas are dictated by having preexisting relationships with experienced fosters and veterinarians in these cities, where we already have built a trust.

C & C is a small volunteer based 501c3 nonprofit. We rely on the kindness of like-minded people to get our cats & dogs ready for adoption. C & C rescues animals from high kill shelters in the over looked suburbs of California, so the cats & dogs are most likely going to exit the shelter system with a cold (URI) for cats or kennel cough for dogs. Each animal will need vetting by one of our veterinarians the same day that they are rescued. Cats, kittens, nursing moms with kittens, orphan kittens, and small dogs are where you are needed most. Fostering means spending quality time with your fosters, & daily feeding & hygiene for your foster is key. Medicating, and socializing, when needed, are primary aspects of experienced fosters daily duties. Fostering ranges from 4 weeks to several months.
All adults in the household must agree to the foster arrangement, and agree to Cats & Canines, Inc. policies. Willingness & ability to work with the foster coordinator while caring for the cats or dogs in the home and during the adoption process is key. Having a car is key to the foster program.
